We are back in the office after attending both IWCE Expo in Las Vegas, NV and WISPAmerica in Little Rock, AR. The Carlson Team had an exciting and informative experience at both shows, returning with a cumulative amount of about 250 solid leads! For both shows, we sent out a special offer email in advance to stir up excitement and traffic around the booth. This worked better than we could have hoped.
Jim Carlson, CEO, and Rob Escher, Sales Engineer, were in attendance. Upon show opening at 10am on Wednesday, the booth was packed solid with interested show goers until about 3pm that day. Show attendees arrived in groups with a predominant interest in the RuralConnect White Space product, which was displayed in the booth. Jim held many short presentations at the booth for groups that arrived all wanting information on white space. After the presentation the group was allowed to ask overall questions, and if they required more in-depth answers, Rob would take them aside and answer specific questions about their applications. About half of our booth visits were from existing customers excited about our progress, and the other half had seen our display sign or read about the company in the show guide. At the end of the first day, Jim and Rob had collected about 150 solid leads.
Interest in RuralConnect at the show was about four times more than previous years, with radio service and public safety businesses becoming more comfortable with the idea of utilizing TV White Space for their market. This lead to a very interesting panel discussion moderated by Jim titled “Navigating Crossroads in Critical Communications”. Those who spoke on the panel were well versed in their fields, and contributed lots of valuable information.
From the expanded level of interest generated by the show, we decided to continue to market to the IWCE customer base. Public safety and business radio service professionals are ready to begin using TV White Space for their industries, and we will continue to grow and evolve to fit their needs and applications.
While Jim and Rob were at IWCE, Kiely Cronin, Product Development Manager, and Gannon Rogers, Sales Engineer, were at WISPAmerica. This show was much smaller with around 400 attendees, but no lesser in value with Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe delivering the opening address. There was a lot of action around the TV White Space arena based on a number of panel discussions, speeches and keynote addresses. Both Kiely and Gannon attended a number of sessions on topics such as E-Rate, marketing, and advanced RF training. The Carlson Team was delighted to see some partners at the show including iconnectiv, and to speak with a lot of existing customers who came back to discuss their successes deploying in the field. They had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Aristotle, one of our WISP customers, and receive some valuable feedback on the current technology and plans for the future. Kiely participated in a panel discussion titled “Spectrum Sharing in the Cloud (White Spaces and Beyond)” which peaked interest even further in this exciting new technology. Overall, it was beneficial to touch base, reconnect, and receive feedback on successes and ways to improve our products.
