Announcing a new way to achieve broadband connectivity with your RuralConnect radio! Our RuralConnect TV White Space Radio now comes in an Up-Tower (or “split base”) configuration for the base station.
The RuralConnect is a TV White Space radio that operates using vacant TV frequencies (TV White Space Spectrum : 470 to 698 MHz domestically / 470 to 790 Mhz internationally) to bring wireless broadband to homes, businesses, and municipal sites. TV frequencies penetrate foliage and weave around hills and other barriers that render microwave or Wi-Fi inoperable. Now, the RuralConnect is more customizable than before!
At Carlson, we understand not every tower installation has the same needs, and we pride ourselves on the innovative ways we can develop our products to meet each customer’s individual requirements. Therefore, we bring to you a new way to provide broadband connectivity to your clients with our Up-Tower Configuration. Our “Traditional Configuration” (as depicted on the right), features a rack mountable downmast radio and base combination in a single enclosure. This unit is connected to an external antenna, our Omni Antenna is pictured here, through an RF Coax (or Flexfeeder) Cable. This is a typical industry design. The new “Up-Tower Configuration” features a similar rack mountable enclosure, however it is connected to a seperate upmast radio via Ethernet cable. The radio is then connected to the Omni Antenna with a much shorter RF Coax cable. This setup increases the power of the system while reducing cable loss.
